Lets talk about the longest week of my life shall we?
I know this post is a little late, but I'm finally not too busy to sit down and write.
June 16:
Shawn and I went to Fetal Fotos in Murray. And for those of you who dont know what Fetal Fotos is, its basically what it sounds like. Photos of babies. They can tell you the gender of your babe at 15 weeks. And so because I was way too anxious to find out, we paid the 60 bucks to find out the gender. When we got there we had to fill out some information and then the cutest lady took us back into the ultra sound room. Before I laid down on the bed, I told her "I don't want to know the gender. Will you just put it in an envelope? We are going to find it out with our friends and family in a couple days" So she was so up for it and excited. She had us close our eyes for a minute while she found the baby and then we opened them and I could NOT believe what I was looking at. The cutest little baby in the world. It was moving soooooo much. Kicking, flipping, waving it's hands, opening and closing its mouth. It was such a high-tech ultra sound and I was in HEAVEN!
She then had us close our eyes again while she got a clear shot of the ''parts''. haha. Her words, not mine. She kept laughing and saying "K your baby is a tease. It's either crossing it's legs, putting its hand down there, or the umbilical cord is in the way!" She then kept poking at my stomach to get the legs to spread apart and then said "OK I got the picture you can open now!"
I asked her if she was 110% Sure what the baby was.
And she was POSITIVE!
I freakin love my baby.
So, then later that night we went to Macy's and picked out a Boys outfit and a Girls outfit. I handed both to the cashier with the envelope of the gender and cash. I told her to open the envelope, buy whatever the gender is, and wrap it in a box along with the ultra sound, receipt, and change. She was thrilled. She actually started crying she was so happy! Haha. We left for ten minutes and came back all ready for us.
This box sat at my house for 5 days. 5 freakin days. It was killing me.
That following Sunday we had our gender reveal party! Friends and family came over to find out with us what the gender of our baby is.
I cant even begin to tell you guys how nervous I was to open the box! I would of been happy with either gender of course, but secretly I was hoping for a girl. At the party, I kept telling people I thought it would be a boy and only lucky people get pregnant with girls. haha.
So once everyone was there, Shawn and I stood at the front opening the box. It felt like forever. When I finally peeked inside and saw the Grey and Pink jammies we picked out, I went NUTS! I was SCREAMING ''ITS A GIRL!!!! IT'S A GIRL!!!!'' while jumping up and down.
I CANT BELIEVE I AM HAVING A BABY GIRL!!!!
The best part about the whole things, my best friend and I are six weeks apart and she is having a little girl. Oh these two are already best friends and it's going to be so much fun planning our girls together.
We love you baby girl. so so so much.

Oh Baby!
Seriously?! Where in the world have I been!! I know it's been so so so long since I've updated my blog. And everytime I get on to update it, I tell all of you I'm going to be better and it never happens. But life has finally slowed down enough that I WILL do better!
So much has happened lately. I mean, not a ton, but a lot at one time.
Shawn and I moved into the cutest little townhome! We love it! It's nice to have our own place; a place we can call home for a little while. It's a fun ward. I actually grew up in this ward for 13 years and my grandma lives down the street! So it's so fun to see her all the time, especially on Sundays. We are completely moved in and settled (I mean settled enough to be comfortable). We still have decorating to do of course, but our living room has been my main focus lately because 1. its the room that everyone hangs out in and everyone sees right when they walk in and 2. Its the first room and probably only room that I decorate with holiday decor. With fall coming up right around the corner (or so I hope because I hate the heat) I absolutely LOOOVE fall decor. So get ready for some pictures whenever I get around to it.
Other than moving in, work has been really busy lately too. We just got over the 'back-to-school' week and that was a week from you-know-where. The busiest week of my life with haircuts and colors. Not to mention, I had the worst cold during that week so it was a lot for me. But I made it out alive and work is finally starting to slow down and get back to normal.
Shawn has been super busy too with work and school. I am so proud of him. He is such a hard worker. He strives every day to be better with work and school. I love getting texts/phone calls from him bragging about his test scores. He is studying his butt off and working so hard because he wants to get into the best medical school one day. And when I say best I mean the U of U because how great would that be to stay in Utah. We'll see how lucky we get!
Then of course, most of you (if not all of you) know that there is a BABY ON THE WAY!
I have been dying to tell you all about the baby so far! I'll give you the ''bump-date'' in a different blog post, but I'll tell you all how we found out! Craziest story..
The Day We Knew It Was Time:
So, a little while ago, I just felt like it was time. I pushed away the baby hunger and really focused on if this was our time or if I was just wanting one because all my friends were getting pregnant. After really thinking about it and praying about it, I felt like it was time to be a mom. That life was settled enough to be a mom and this was my calling
Once I brought it up with Shawn, he said no way. HAHA! Typical right? But I wasn't mad about it. I knew that if I could get feeling and answer that it was time, so would Shawn on HIS timing. So I told him when he was ready, I would like to go to the temple about it.
Weeks went by and my family wanted to go to the temple together. Without saying anything to Shawn, he mentioned that we should pray about it while we are there. I thought I would be excited to hear those words, and don't get me wrong, I totally was. But I was mostly nervous. Scared. I was nervous because I knew the answer he would get and all of a sudden "Emily, this is real. Are you sure you're ready?" popped into my head.
When we went to the temple, we had something very special happen inside. I can't find the words to describe it. Crazy? Unreal? Special? Amazing? I mean, they all explain it. It was insane. But because it is so special to us, I don't want to write it on a blog post for the world to read. If you want to know, I will be more than happy to share it with you but for now in this blog for the whole world, I feel as if it is to sacred to share. But just know there were many tears and obviously we got the answer that it was time.
So when we decided to start trying I knew it was going to take a while. Doesn't it for most couples? Oh not us! hahahaha. Maybe that's why I call it more of surprise baby-even though we wanted it.
The Day I Found Out:
It was 2 days before I was supposed to start my period. (TMI? Sorry) and I was texting my best friend Holly. She basically convinced me to come over to her house and take a test. After work, I went and bought a test and went straight to her house. Did my thing, walked out and placed it upside down on her table. I could NOT get myself to look at it. Might I add: She is pregnant too and all we ever wanted was to be pregnant at the same time so of course I was so nervous to see the results.
I went and sat on her couch and we just kept laughing. SO NERVOUS. A few minutes went by and I finally decided to just look. I walked so slow over to her counter as we continued to laugh our heads off. When I flipped it over and looked down and saw two VERY bold pink lines, I brought my hand up to my mouth to cover it because I was in complete shock. I looked at Holly, looked back down, looked back up and Holly and she said "NO WAY!" and ran over to me. I started laughing so hard. We both did. We could not even handle the fact that I AM PREGNANT! I remember collapsing to the floor because I was laughing so hard!! A rush of love for my baby came over me. Something I have never felt before. I remember yelling "I'M GOING TO BE A MOM!'' Holly and I immediately got in the car for some reason and drove around. Thinking of ways to tell Shawn. Our dream come true!!
How I Told Shawn:
This is awful, but I actually told our friends Jake and Mary before I told Shawn too! Haha. We were going to dinner with them that night and Mary knew I was taking a test. So when we were at dinner with them, they knew the whole time and Shawn didnt! It was hilarious.
So when we got home, I told Shawn that I had a surprise for him and to go sit on the couch and close his eyes. Gosh, I was nervous! hahahah.
I placed this on the coffee table in front of him:
They were over the moon excited!! My siblings were in heaven. Just the reaction I hoped for!!
His family: We actually had to wait a while to tell them because his mom was in California for work and we wanted to tell them all at the same time. So we flew out with my father in law and sister in law and met up with my mother in law for a trip to Disneyland! It was so much fun. And we told them when we got to the hotel! They were really excited too! So yes, I went to Disneyland pregnant. Disneyland wasn't bad at all. I actually could ride most of the rides! Six flags was another story; couldn't ride one ride. but it was ok. It was so hot, I was fine just hanging out in the shade.
How We Told Everyone Else:
I wanted to tell my extended family first, so they didn't find out through social media. and it worked out perfectly. The day after we got back from Disneyland, my family had a lagoon day so I told them all there! My grandpa was so excited. I have two aunts that are pregnant right now. One pregnant with twins and is due in October and my other aunt is pregnant with a little boy and due in January. And then I'm due in March! So there will be 4 little babies running around together!
So much has happened lately. I mean, not a ton, but a lot at one time.

We went to the store right after and I remember dead silence the whole drive over. hahaha. Trust me, he has definitely warmed up to it now. and he is the cutest about being a dad. SO excited! But it's big news to a man at first and it did happen so fast!
How We Told Our Families:
Sunday dinner the following sunday was at my parents house and I decided I didn't care that I was still pretty early. I wanted to tell my family. I gave my Dad the onesie and my mom the diet coke:
His family: We actually had to wait a while to tell them because his mom was in California for work and we wanted to tell them all at the same time. YOU GUYS! I am so excited to be a mom. Some days I am so nervous, but thats what's so great about 9 months. I become more 'ready' every day. I heard the heartbeat a week ago and it was so cute. Its surreal that I am carrying a baby. Even though I don't have a belly yet, it's there. And I love him/her so much already.
Our world is about to change. But I can't wait. I have always wanted to be a mom and I can't wait to watch Shawn be a daddy.

365 best days.
And that's not all.
This past year has easily been the best year of my life. Starting with Shawn coming home from his mission, getting married, and spending every day with my best friend- I'd say we've had a pretty fantastic year! I keep putting off this blog post, because no matter how hard I try to make it perfect, it doesn't happen. So instead of thinking about it, I'm just going to type. I'm going to type everything I'm thinking and hope it doesn't sound like I'm babbling on about our anniversary.
If I could use 3 words to describe the last year, it would be: Marriage freakin' rocks.
Seriously.
It's so fun.
We've had it really good- I mean reallllly good. Alot of people go on and on about how ''the first year of marriage is the hardest'' but whoever said that, obviously didn't know me and Shawn. I don't know if it's because we've actually known each other for a long time, or that we are both so easy going- but seriously marriage has been easy.
Were there things we had to get used to?? Yes. Maybe like Shawn's dirty socks all over the floor. Or piles and piles of hair, or like Shawn would say it "I LIVE IN A HOUSE OF HAIR''. And yes paying bills suck, no air conditioning sucks, paying for groceries suck, but at the same time it's so fun going through these things with your best friend. So like I said, YES there are things that are hard to get used to, but at the same time I wouldn't use the word ''hard''. It's just different. But it's a GOOD different.
Me and Shawn have been living in this cute little basement apartment for the past year, and it's so different. But remember what I said? Different isn't a bad thing!! Not at all. We've had so much fun. So many memories. We have been very blessed to live where we live.We have a fantastic ward, and the whole time we've been a part of the ward be have been in the primary. Doing that with him is so fun.
We both work. But luckily our work schedules hardly ever clash. We usually get home the same time which is AWESOME. I was scared that with us both working and Shawn going to school, we'd never see eachother. But no, we see eachother all the time.
We also have awesome married friends. Even friends with babies. So thats so fun to hang out with them.
I love being married. My favorite thing ever is falling asleep with my best friend and waking up to him every morning. Really, it's the best. I love being lazy with a husband. Cuddles on sunday watching tv are awesome. Cooking dinner, or making Shawn cook dinner -HAHA- is also so fun.
I could go on and on about how marriage freakin rocks. But I'm not kidding when I say this has been the best year of my life. Traveling together, singing together, laughing together, dancing together, cooking together, cleaning together, crying together, EVERYTHING TOGETHER. Rocks.
ANNIVERSARY DATE:
So onto the anniversary date Shawn planned.
June 20. (Friday)
We both worked. I got home around 7 and there were flowers on the table and my favorite dinner made. He is so sweet.
June 21. (Saturday)
We woke up, and Shawn made breakfast. Then we went to Park City for the day. We did the Alpine Coaster and the outlets. And then Shawn had a big surprise for me. There I was, thinking it was going to be a couples massage, candle dinner, I dont know something super romantic. Instead? Ziplining at Olympic Park. HAHAHA. It really was so funny. I laugh at how different boys and girls are. But the Zip line really was sooooooooo fun! And then we went to dinner at one of our fave restaurants!
June 22. (Sunday, our anniversary)
We spent it at my parents house. It was sunday so we couldn't do much but we were together and that's all that matters.
Oh yeah. And i got shawn the coolest gift.
I made him a book on shutterfly of his WHOLE mission. Separated into sectors and everything.
I love my husband. And I can't wait to see what year 2 brings us!

Birthday Boy
I have been waiting to write this blog post for a while now! Actually since February! I planned the best birthday surprise for Shawn and it took everything inside of me to keep this big secret from him. Everytime I was around my family, they would just laugh because they couldn't believe I wasn't telling him yet. In fact, I think everyone in Kaysville knew about it besides Shawn. I'd tell everyone! So thanks everyone for not telling him!! HA.
I've actually had everything booked since February 26 to be exact. So for almost 3 months, he had no idea. It was really hard the closer it got. Especially because there were many nights, Shawn and I would be sitting next to each other on the couch and a Disney commercial came on and he'd say "Lets plan a trip to Disneyland" and I would say something like, "Not right now hun." It was really hard. The day before was a lot worse. I was getting way too excited. I kept myself really really busy that day and away from Shawn so I wouldn't spill the big surprise.
The night before, we packed our bags. That was hard too because I had to tell him what to pack without telling him where we were going. And make up some excuse why we had to have a suitcase instead of a little duffel bag. After we packed up our things, we were laying on the bed talking and and it hit me that we were about to go to Disneyland the next morning. I got REALLY excited and Shawn could tell I was getting hyper! Then we went to bed, and it was the worst sleep ever. I woke up at 7am and decided to go make him breakfast. I surprised him with breakfast in bed and told him to hurry and eat and get ready.
We both got ready and it was about 8:45 am at this point, and I told him to sit on the couch.
This is how I told him:

It was hilarious. When he opened it, he just looked at me and said, "We are going to Disneyland?" and I just started laughing way hard. and I said "Yeah babe, we are leaving in an hour!" and he did NOT believe me. I finally showed him the tickets and the flight itinerary and he almost cried! He grabbed me and gave me the biggest hug and kiss! It was perfect.
My mom picked us up and took us to the airport.
Once we landed, I arranged a driver to pick us up, so he was waiting for us. He picked us up and took us to our hotel to drop our bags off and straight to Disneyland we went! Oh my gosh, if you guys don't already know this, you do now. We are OBSESSED with Disneyland. We were more excited than little kids. This was our 3rd time to Disneyland together and we haven't even been married for a year! HA! We are crazy.
Thursday: So fun. Not very crowded. We went on almost every ride in Disneyland.

Friday: Disneyland was open from 6am-6am. Yep, 24 hours! But we weren't that crazy. We went to California Adventure all day. We got there around 8:30 and around 3pm it got really busy. We left the park at 11:30 and there were more people entering the park than leaving. It was getting reallllllly crazy.
This was really cool. We got to watch a 12 minute sneak peak of Maleficent.
Saturday: CRAZY busy. But still so fun! And his birthday!
Sunday: We came home. And it was so hard to come home. Our trip was not long enough but it was so fun to get away with my husband for a little bit. I can't wait for our next vacation!
Coming home from vacations are always hard because you have to go back to work. Spending every second with him was perfect. Monday we spend the whole day side by side. It was memorial day so we didn't work. It was nice to be with him all day. I love him so much and I'm so glad that I got to do this for him. He deserved it. And I hope it was a birthday he will never forget :)

This was our first time every flying together. It was really fun. We got on the airplane and the whole time Shawn kept saying, SERIOUSLY EM! WE ARE GOING TO DISNEYLAND!
